History

Foods Co. was started in 1977. It has since serviced the residents of Northern California. In the late 1980s, Ralph shops combined with Food 4 Less and Foods Co. This was the largest merger in California history. Foods Co. has opened six locations in San Francisco, one in Redwood City, five in Oakland, four in Sacramento, and three in Greater Sacramento over the years. Foods Co. now has 19 locations. Ralphs extended their stores across California after combining with Foods Co. and Food 4 Less. Foods Co. was purchased by Fred Meyer in 1997, which was then purchased by Kroger Co.
